OUCH!: Poem of the Day/// The Four Horsemen

The Four Horsemen
(Canadian hippies)
were a quartet of poets
founded in the 1970's by
Steve McCaffery
Steve McCaffery
is a man with a theory

SOUND POETRY
He is deconstructing
the word
(And in doing so)
the sentence
(And in doing so)
the line
(And in doing so)
the poem
(Emotion IS Sound)
The Theory: Poetry could be made up of "sounds" rather than "words"

This is art (poetry) based on having a theory
There is "The point"
and there is "The performance" and
there is the choice of sound and method of expressing that chosen sound
and there is
"Intention"
and there we are (again 1917) at
Marcel Duchamp's urinal
"Fountain"
Art is subjective to the point
One's "intention" matters
"Intention" can instantly change
X into Art
X into poetry
And that's what we have here

Note:
We don't make people
"Prove it"
Art is not a perscription drug or a child's toy
No one is in danger if we "believe" the "artist"
OTHERWISE: We're FASCIST

Allowing people to call themselves artists
while allowing them to show us objects they've "invented"
and we "let them" call it "art"
Allows
"art" to expand it's meaning and evolve
like everything else
(You can't argue the intentions of people/// You can only show-up later and bitch)

From the movie: Poetry In Motion
The
Four Horsemen
(One of THE weirdest performances I have ever seen)
